The design of the facility’s new sound system focused on the use of Danley’s outdoor family of loudspeakers, specifically the OS80 loudspeaker.
“Consider the space in an equestrian arena,” said Hunt. “You have riders who need to be able to hear the ring calls during stunts and activities. In addition, you need loudspeakers pointed toward the gallery who are watching. There has to be a lot of thought put into speaker placement, engineering, and delay management.”
JSC Systems selected the Danley Sound Labs OS80 outdoor loudspeaker along with the complementary THMini15 subwoofers. 13 OS80 loudspeakers are used to cover both the gallery and riders’ area along with 4 THMini15 subwoofers for added low end. Delays were set so that both riders and event attendees had a quality experience with limited audible interference. Outside, JSC utilized OS80 and OS12CX loudspeakers to cover the outdoor arena, in the stands, and throughout the area who may be standing near the outdoor arena.
“90% of what we do at JSC outdoors for arenas or stadiums, we utilize Danley Sound Labs,” said Hunt. “There are few products that sound amazing and can meet the requirements of our variable weather here in Florida.”
“The folks who attend these events love the sound of it,” said Lee Ferguson, maintenance manager at Alachua County Agriculture and Equestrian Center. “The folks who use it, love the ease of use of the audio system. New visitors enjoy the system and say it’s sounds great. Those who have been here in the past, they’re overwhelmed with how good the sound is. It’s a great improvement.”
“Danley is set apart from other manufacturers because we have a focus on creating high quality audio experiences, no matter the weather,” said Cooper Hedden, southeastern regional sales manager at Danley. “Whether our OS line of loudspeakers or our extreme weather (EW) materials, we utilize many of the same high quality components we use on our indoor loudspeakers and subwoofers. However, we modify their encasings to ensure the weather doesn’t damage those components and create the same clear and quality sound we are known for.”
Following installation of Wakulla High School’s new Danley system in 2023, a category 1 hurricane passed through the area.
“We want our clients to be amazed at the quality of our installation. And frankly, I still want to be amazed,” said Hunt. “So, when we at JSC select partners for projects like the Equestrian Center, we select companies like Danley for everything we do.”
